Hello, I wanted to add your comment about "Sorry, Apologe.." It is important for adult to recognized the problem and then forgive each other. It is important to say "sorry," to keep it simple and then move on for the best. We don't need to be obessive because it is waste of time to think about it.
I can understand and agree with your sentiments whenever someone should qualify his/her apology with "but" word.
I cannot say the same thing about the word "if" expressed right after an apology. Sometimes I was not sure if I have hurt someone and decide to broach the issue to see if I really needed to apology.
It would be interesting if you can please give an example in which case you can show that the apology followed by the word "if" seems to be weak or insincere.
The way I see - "I am sorry but..." may have another meaning? Like, a person may be sorry for something s/he says or does yet s/he may agree to disagree without really a BUT and still mean every letter "s o r r y". If you know what I mean.

Yes, "Sorry but..." is another way of saying "I'm saying I'm sorry but I don't really mean it...."
I agree with Theresa. To me, these types of apologies are fake.

Hi Deaf Flower!
Interesting topic.

Once again, good thought.
